We were able to pet them, feed them, take lots of pictures and videos and get a lot of excitement and laughs out of the experience.Īfter the ride, we strolled through the Walkabout, which was more like a traditional zoo.

The rest of the 3-1/2-mile ride was just as exciting, with Pot-Bellied Pigs running next to the van, American Bison, Texas Longhorn, Ostrich, Zebra, Nilgai, Gaur and more coming right up to the vehicle and letting us feed them. Wild Animal Safari lets you get up close and personal with animals you can usually only see from a distance. As we pulled away, about 30 animals trotted after us. We stayed to enjoy them for a good while and eventually started forward. We all had the opportunity to pet them, feed them, appreciate their beauty and get slobbered on by them. These beautiful, giant animals came right up to the van, stuck their heads in as much as they could with the bars on the windows, and reached their long tongues in to grab the food. Once they saw us, they crossed the pasture toward us.

My husband pulled the van up next to where they were housed. The next stop was the giraffes, Rose and Too Tall. Five-year-old Harvey never thought he would be able to feed his favorite animal: a giraffe. Mouflon sheep jumping on the side of the van, begging for food. Again, all sorts of animals that had been laying in the field or grazing in the distance came over to see if they could get a hand-out. These animals wanted the food so badly, they were standing on their hind legs, resting their front hooves against the van. We started forward and were greeted by a group of Mouflon Sheep. We literally sat in that spot right at the entrance for a good 15 minutes, having so much fun feeding and observing all of the different animals that were coming up. All of us were wide-eyed and laughing with excitement.

The Elk and other animals stuck their heads right in the windows and ate food out of our hands (luckily there were a few metal bars to prevent the animals heads from getting all the way into the vehicle). They quickly grabbed them, and immediately afterward, Elk, Axis Deer, Fallow Deer, Pot- Bellied Pigs and other species of animals swarmed our van. With their sharp beaks, and heeding the advice of park staff, we decided we had better not hand feed them and set a couple of pieces of food on the van window. After the two-hour drive to Pine Mountain, we were ready to see some animals! The Wild Animal Safari has a full service restaurant serving pizza, hamburgers, grilled chicken, bullafo wings, fresh garden salads and several kids meals. The park has daily semi-private Animal Encounters where you can touch and feed several species (at an extra charge). The Wild Animal Safari in Pine Mountain, Georgia can host large groups, schools, summer camps and birthday parties. In the Walkabout Adventure Zoo, you can see Lions, Tigers, Bears, Kangaroos, Lemurs, Spider Monkeys, Aligators, Singing Dogs, Sloths and different species of birds and reptiles. In the Drive-Thru Safari, get up close and feed Giraffes, Zebras, Bison, Elk, multiple species of deer, Water Buffalo, Pigs, Goats, Camels and much more. Guests may drive their own vehicle, ride on the complimentary Safari Bus, or rent a Safari Van to go through the Drive-Thru Safari. There are over 400 animals in the Drive-Thru Safari and Walkabout Adventure Zoo. Closing time is 5PM in the winter months and from 6-7:30pm during Spring Break and in the Summer months. The park is open at 10AM 363 days a year (closed Christmas Day and Thanksgiving Day). The Wild Animal Safari in Pine Mountain, Georgia is both a Drive-Thru Safari and Walkabout Adventure Zoo.
